An Incredible & Hilarious Membership Story

This is a true story that told by Millionaire Club Member, Tony Hughes about his oldest daughter Halie. Get ready to laugh! Enjoy!
My 18 daughter Halie received her first speeding ticket the middle of May. She was convinced that she was not speeding for a variety of reasons. What can I say, I believed her!
Halie decided after speaking to HER Pre-Paid Legal attorney that she would like to fight the ticket by having the attorney go to court on it.
The date for court was set and we met the attorney, Robert Dossi (from Davis Miles-I hope I’m spelling his name correctly) outside the Oro Valley Arizona court room. After prepping Halie for the court proceedings for a half hour we went into the court room.
The judge told the prosecuting attorney to go ahead. He told the court that on this day, at this time, this police officer, clocked this defendant, at this speed, with this device, on this road, etc. etc. He sat down.
The judge then gave the floor to Mr. Dossi. He immediately called the police officer to the stand and asked him to give his name, time as an officer, training, etc.
Mr. Dossi used a three ring binder and proceeded to conduct an exhaustive cross examination of the officer’s ability to correctly use a radar gun. I sat with my mouth open as he began to question him. The following is an abbreviated review of what was said:
Q. Are you certified to operate a radar gun?
A. Yes
Q. Where did you receive your certification?
A. answer
Q. Have you had any refresher courses since 2003?
A. No
Q. Is this your certificate? Holding up a certificate?
A. Yes
Q. Did you have a two way radio in the car?
A. Yes
Q. Was it on?
A. Yes
Q. Did they teach you in your training that two way radios can interfere with the radar’s ability to give an accurate reading?
A. I think so, I can’t remember.
Q. Did you have a walkie talkie with you?
A. Yes.
Q. Here on your shoulder?
A. Yes
Q. Was it turned on?
A. Yes
Q. Did they teach you in your training that walkie talkie’s can interfere with the radar?
A. I’m not sure, I don’t remember
Q. Where is the police station in relation to where you were when you allegedly clocked Miss Hughes?
A. Answer
Q. Is there a radio tower in the police station?
A. Yes
Q. Did they teach you in your certification that radio towers can throw off the calibration of the radar gun?
A. I can’t remember
Q. Are there any automatic garage door openers in that area?
A. Yes
Q. Did they teach you in your training that these automatic garage doors can affect the read out of your radar gun?
A. I’m not sure. I don’t remember.
Q. Did they teach you about electromagnetic waves in your training?
A. You mean like sonar?
Q. No I mean like electromagnetic waves.
A. I can’t remember.
Q. Did they teach you how to calibrate the radar gun?
A. Yes, we use two tuning forks. One that is calibrated for 25 miles an hour and one that is calibrated at 40 miles an hour.
Q. Have you calibrated your radar gun using these tuning forks?
A. Yes
Q. How often?
A. Every day I go to work and when I complete my shift.
Q. You calibrate them twice a day?
A. Yes
Q. Where are the tuning forks?
A. Hanging on a wall in the police chiefs office.
Q. You go into the police chiefs office twice a day to calibrate your radar gun?
A. Swallowing, um yes.
Q. Using these two fingers on my hand how do you hold the tuning forks when you calibrate the radar gun?
A. I hold them like this – horizontal
Q. Did they not teach you in your training that in order to get an accurate calibration that the tuning forks need to be either this way, vertical up or this way, vertical down?
A. Maybe, I can’t remember.
Q. What do you hit the tuning forks on to calibrate your radar gun?
A. I hit it on a metal filing cabinet.
Q. Did they not teach you that in order to get an accurate calibration that you are supposed to hit the tuning forks on a non metallic object?
A. Really, no I didn’t know that
Mr. Dossi cross examined this officer for 35 minutes. The prosecuting attorney then did his best to build the police officer back up after Mr. Dossi made him look very incompetent to use a radar gun.
Mr. Dossi then called Halie to the stand and built a foundation under her testimony. The prosecutor then tried to discredit her testimony.
Closing statements came and at the end of the trial the judge told the prosecuting attorney that the state failed to show that this defendant was driving imprudently and unreasonably on this road on this day. The court finds the defendant NOT RESPONSIBLE. CASE DISMISSED!!!
The trial lasted ONE HOUR!
We were all shocked. The police officer and PA were totally blown away!
With the two hour drive down. The two hour drive back to Phoenix the hour in trial and the half hour before and the half hour after the trial outside this attorney logged a total of 6 hours! At $200.00 an hour that was $1,200.00 and that doesn’t include any research or preparation time!
Our fees?
Not one penny over and above our $35.95 monthly fee!!!
Absolutely amazing! My daughter is a TOTAL BELIEVER in PRE-PAID LEGAL and now knows what her daddy does for a living!
