The Past, Present and Future of pd4free.com

I will tell my complete story in a future post, but for time being here is the Readers Digest version. In 1999 I was beyond broke living in what I call the ghetto (it’s so much easier to say the ghetto rather than “the bad part of town”) in Ft. Worth, Texas. I was a 27 year-old college drop out, waiting tables at Chili’s, earning less than $10,000 a year. Today, I am a millionaire, with an amazing life! All I did to exchange poverty and emotional numbness for wealth and incredible fulfillment is follow a simple recipe. Success can be had almost as easily as baking a cake. I must say, it’s been a while since I dazzled the world with my mad cake baking skills, but the last time I did, I simply followed a recipe, and voila!, cake! And success in any area of your life can be had in the very the same way. Get the recipe, follow the recipe, and give it enough time to “rise,” and you’re there. Stick around and you’ll get it, I promise.

Personal Development is the KEY to success. Period. It is the starting point for all significant accomplishment. Personal Development is a concept of becoming a little bit better every day so that over the years you become a radically different person. Benjamin Franklin taught, “Take your coins from your purse and pour them into your mind, and your mind will pour coins into your purse.” That’s it. How simple can that be? Of course there are a few more things to be considered, like taking action, but ultimately, that sums it up.

The Apostle Paul, in his letter to the Romans said it wonderfully with his admonition to “be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” And that’s all Personal Development really is, is transforming your life, by transforming your mind. Most people are broke in many areas of their life because they have a bankrupt mind. We are trying to get by in 2008, on a 10 year old, or 20 year old, or even a 40 year old education. The world has changed a bit since we got that little degree. And as we move further into the new millennium, only those engrossed a self education and gaining multiple skills will thrive, not only financially, but in all areas of life. Getting a little better every day to become much better over time. That’s Personal Development.

So what is Personal Development For Free (pdforfree.com)? It has been, will be, or is (depending on when you are reading this), the world’s premiere FREE Personal Development website. I have spent tens of thousands of dollars getting my Personal Development education. I’ve bought hundreds of books and magazines. I’ve purchased dozens and dozens of motivational and educational audio programs, and attended countless seminars to reshape my mind in attempt to remake my life. But much of that education could have been had for FREE, if I only knew where to look. And that is what pdforfree.com was, is and will be. A one stop shop people can visit, to get what they need for life change. And most of it will be FREE!

PD4FREE.COM, THE PAST

Almost two years ago, I launched version 1.0 of pd4free.com. Back then, it was pdforfree.com. That is an interesting story in and of it’s self, so I’ll start there.

One night I had an idea to gather all the best quotes and articles by the world’s leading success coaches and Personal Development gurus and put them in one place available to the world for FREE. So I went to godaddy.com and purchased pdforfree.com. The domain pd4free.com was also available, but I thought I liked pdforfree (spelled out) a little better, so I opted not to invest the ten bucks, or what ever it was, to buy pd4free.com as well, just in case. After a few days of trying to come up with a logo for my future project, I determined that pd4free would make a much better logo than pdforfree. So I went back to godaddy to pick up pd4free only to discover that someone bought it a day earlier. Argh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So, pdFORfree it was. (Whoever bought pd4free only owned it a year, and I swooped it up just recently! Oh yeah baby! What’s up now?!?!)

I had what I thought was a great idea. I didn’t have the first clue about building websites, but my neighbor did. After some discussion, we created what we both felt was a mutually beneficial business arrangement and on a handshake and some email discussions launched pdforfree.com. I was amazed by the good that we did in such a short period of time. Our traffic exploded. In less than two months, we had created quite a stir in the Personal Development world. People loved the site. The testimonials came pouring in. And we had amassed an email list of several hundred people in just a few months. Everything was going great… until Mr. Webmaster and I ran into challanges.

Without going into details, here’s what I have learned. I don’t care if they are your best friend and you are their minister, GET IT IN WRITING! My father in-law has a great saying. He says, “good fences make good neighbors.” As long as it’s cleat what is yours and what is theirs, neighbors and business partners can get along masterfully. But if there are no fences, or the fence is a bit wobbly… watch out! Live and learn.

Unfortunately, that site design as well as all the email addresses of those of you who registered for my FREE perks and weekly mentoring are gone, gone, gone. That was version 1.0 of pdforfree.com…the past

PD4FREE.COM, THE PRESENT

Presently, there is an “under construction” page at pd4free.com, that is, until I point that domain to this blog.

That page was only supposed to be up for a few weeks. Time has expired and it’s still up! So, even though I’m not ready, I’m going to JUMP anyway! So for now, pd4free.com will simply be my blog until 2.0 launches.
